A large measure of the responsibility for developing the Center's research strategy and approving its research protocols is vested in the NERC External Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC). This highly-qualified, broad-based Committee consists of individuals having diverse backgrounds and views, but whom are all strong advocates for the need to advance our understanding of the health effects of pollutant mixtures. The ESAC operates as an integral part of Center management, and the present NERC goals, activities, and research strategy are those recommended and unanimously endorsed by the Committee.
